With the Summer of 2020 on its way, it’s never too early to start looking for summer employment. As a guidance counselor, you work with many capable and responsible young adults who will be seeking upcoming summer employment. Why not lifeguard? It’s a GREAT summer job!

Open Positions

American Red Cross Lifeguard (Staff Lifeguard)

Following are the job description and minimum requirements for this position:

Employment Category/Status: Part-time, May – September
Type of Position: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Salary Range: $13.00 to $15.00/hr

Job Description: The Lifeguard will:

  • Perform daily inspections/maintenance of their assigned facility;

  • Monitor environmental conditions and weather;

  • Monitor bather capacity of the facility;

  • Perform daily water chemistry checks;

  • Monitor pool furniture and pool area.

Minimum Requirements: Lifeguards must:

  • Be a minimum of 16 years old;

  • Have or be in the process of obtaining Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Pool Maintenance Technician

Following are the job description and minimum requirements for this position:

Job Description: The Pool Maintenance Technician will:

  • Perform a variety of maintenance functions on swimming pools and spas, including testing and treating water to maintain proper chlorine, PH, total alkalinity levels and safe, healthy water quality; as well as backwashing the filter system and skimming the water surface to remove debris as needed;

  • Under the Maintenance Manager’s immediate supervision and direction, assist in maintaining proper function and condition of facilities and provide repairs as needed to: chlorinators, filters, interior finish, vacuum cleaners, chemicals feeders, and other items;

  • Clean pool areas, filter rooms, pump pit, deck equipment, tile in pools, and strainer baskets;

  • Monitor and inventory pool maintenance equipment, chemicals, supplies and usage to ensure a proper supply is always on hand. Inform supervisory staff of shortages and needs;

  • Assist in summarizing and winterizing of pools and spas;

  • Attend required staff meetings and training;

  • Maintain required certifications;

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Requirements: Pool Maintenance Technicians must perform related duties and responsibilities as required and be thoroughly familiar with:

  • The operation of pool systems, chlorinators, and pool related equipment;

  • Methods of water testing, sterilization, chlorination, and PH balancing;

  • Safe work practices and pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and safety regulations.

Service Mechanic

Following are the job description and minimum requirements for this position:

Job Description: The Service Mechanic will:

  • Summarize and winterize pools;

  • Be well versed in the installation and repair of automated control systems, chemical systems, leak detection, minor plumbing repairs, and pool chemistry for both residential and commercial swimming pool or spa projects;

  • Be personable and able to confer with clients;

  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the field of repairs, automation, as well as equipment and piping repairs;

  • Coordinate work activities with project leaders and schedulers;

  • Estimate material or equipment requirements to complete jobs;

  • Analyze production problems and recommend solutions.

Minimum Requirements: Service Mechanics:

  • Must have 5-10 years of experience in the swimming pool industry;

  • Must have 3–5 years of experience as a Pool Mechanic/Technician;

  • Must be able to adapt to changing demands and priorities;

  • Must have strong analytical skills in evaluating situations;

  • Must be able to receive, comprehend and communicate information and ideas clearly;

  • Having education or training in construction or a related field will receive preferable consideration;

  • Having experience working with building inspectors, homeowners and general contractors will receive preferable consideration.
